So I’m guessing you are here because you are sick of the nasty rubbery experience you get when you make instant oatmeal? Well there are essentially two ways to make it. One results in a pretty good breakfast, the other is disgusting. Here I will show you both methods of making instant oatmeal and their outcomes.

Method 1 (the bad way): The microwave If you are at this website, I’m guessing the microwave has been your method of choice for instant oatmeal. Well it over cooks the oats and sometimes burns them, while also forming this disgusting rubbery experience. The flavor is so-so but actually the microwave does in fact destroy a lot of the good flavor you would have otherwise. |

Method 2 (the good way): Use Boiling Water Start by putting on a pot of water to boil, or if you have more disposable income than me, perhaps a kettle. While you wait for that, empty a few of your oatmeal packets into a bowl (I use the generic grocery store brand because they cost 1/2 as much and taste exactly the same as Quaker instant oatmeal). Once the water has reached a full boil, just pour it into your bowl of instant oatmeal and stir. Start off with just a little and add more as you need it. What you end up with is a superior tasting, smooth creamy oatmeal experience. What a great way to start the day! |

You’re a friggin’ genius
Good tip. If you want an alternative recipe like trying some other flavors. Here’s what you can do to add Asian flavors to instant oatmeal.
I NEEDED THIS. I like eating oatmeal in the morning because it keeps me full for FOREVER. But I never have time in the morning to cook it on the stove (my preferred method) so I do it in the microwave and it comes out less superb then I’d like it.
But now I can make it really good!
