| My Linksys WRVS400N wireless router frequently gives me connection issues. I have tried upgrading the firmware, doing factory resets, messing with all of the configuration settings to no avail… Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn’t. It took me a very long time to figure out what the actual problem was. | ![]() |
It started out with me getting “limited or no connectivity” messages on my computers when trying to connect wirelessly. It happens with windows XP, windows Vista and windows 7. This happens when your computer cannot get an IP address from the router so it assigns one to itself. (usually a 169…. address)
| Solution: The solution to this issue is very strange, and its not the best solution, but it works. I found that the wireless only worked when I had a computer powered on and connected to one of its wired LAN ports. If I shut down the computer connected to the LAN port, the wireless stopped working again. This is a very strange problem and the solution is not terribly helpful to those who have no computer to hard wire and leave on 24/7. Luckily in my case my main computer is about 15 feet from the router and I can have it plugged in and on all the time leaving other wireless computers in my house able to connect. |

Let me know if this solution has worked for you too, or if you know of a better fix!
